the Interview (Part Three)

Financial Worker

The interview is a two way process. The ideal time for you to ask the interviewer any relevant questions you will have prepared in advance. This is a good opportunity to clarify any points you may have and to sell yourself relating your skills, qualifications, attributes and competencies to the job.

Make questions relevant, avoid talking for too long. Show that you have researched the company (without being contrived). Do not criticise your current employers or reveal confidential information. Avoid too much self opinion, do not harp on problems, avoid negativity. Talk slowly, clearly, show interest but most of all be sincere and honest.

  • What are my precise responsibilities?
  • Who will I be reporting to?
  • What are the training opportunities?
  • Is there scope for progression?
  • How has this vacancy come about? Is it a new position?
Did the last person leave? If so why?
  • Do you have a high/low staff turnover?
  • How do I fair against other candidates?
  • At this stage do you have any reservations about me?
  • Should I expect further interviews?
  • When do you hope to reach a decision?

Leave the remuneration/package/benefits details to your recruitment consultant to discuss unless you're asked or the information is offered. Negotiations will be made on your behalf
